I'd been waiting for years for the perfect overall drill to come into my workshop. I have a brother that sells power tools for a living and he told me about this Panasonic drill that he liked better than all the rest of the pack. The couple of selling points he had was the high torque at ANY SPEED... pull the trigger a bit to turn a screw in slowly even when the going gets tough... and the almost never-ending power supply of 3.5 Amp hours... that's enough power to run a halogen light for 75 minutes! I recently put in an entire subfloor on one charge, the battery just doesn't quit. Note of caution: the chuck has an anti-loosen mechanism that while loosening or tightening makes a pretty loud whine... or ratchteting click when hand turning.. but it pays off.. my bits never loosen while on my milwaukee it happens any time i bump the chuck while loosening screws.

I lucked out in the timing of my purchase.. they just came out with the 3.5AH battery.. it uses squared off battery cells to get more juice in almost the same space as the 3.0AH batteries that have cylindrical battery cells.

I've used the bosch 24V which has 25% more torque.. a monster.. but this drill will put 4" screws into hardwood w/o thinking about it so it has gobbs of torque yet is still a very nice small size.. it fits no problem between two studs to drill holes for wiring and i've used it to bore 2 1/2" holes in cabinets.

I bought the lantern and a spare battery and it's extremely convenient to have a constant portable light source that will last 5-6 hours straight with no dimming whatsoever (light just shuts off when battery is low).

Summary: impossible to beat Panasonic EY6432GQKW drill for overall use... get the new 12V impact if you want light and high power mostly for screw driving... get the 15.6 if you want the best general purpose drill made.

Great drill/driver
I have had DEWALT DC759KA drill for about six months and am very happy with it. I am a homeowner so I can't speak as to how this drill would function during all day use. For projects around my house it has plenty of power although, like every other cordless tool I have used, it needs a little more time drilling/driving through hard wood. If I want to drill through something thick and tough, I used a beefier corded drill. So far, I have not noticed any of the battery life problems discussed by other reviewers.

I picked up a set of the DEWALT DC759KA hex shank bits and have not noticed any slippage. The only time I have had a complaint with the drill was while using a hole saw to install locksets in two doors. Of the four holes, the bit slipped out of the chuck two times. Once I reinserted the hole saw it went right on through the door. I don't know if I didn't get the chuck tight enough or if the chuck just prefers the hex shank bits.

All in all a great drill. I can't imagine ever installing curtain rods, assembling bookcases, etc. with a corded drill and/or screwdriver again!

Great Drill
DEWALT DC728KA drill is just about perfect for me. It feels like it has 18v torque(it's just a 14.4) It's a moderate weight,has a very comfortable handle with wraparound overmold. It has a great chuck thats easy to use and dosent slip.
My drill dosent have the quality control issues that the past Dewalt drills have had.
Ony thing: With all of its torque,a sidehandle would help.

I love the compact design with lots of power and smooth operation. I've only had the drill for a couple of months, it's replacing a similar one that has served me well for several years of hard use. So far I'm happy with this one especially the ability to get into tight spaces.

Compact, Tough and Powerful!!!
If you need a good all around cordless, this drill is highly recommended. Milwaukee has done a great job incorporating "Heavy Duty" toughness without the weight of an 18 volt bruiser! This drill is not only light but compact, nearly the size of my older Panasonic. The plastic housing is the best I have seen among cordless drills. Looks like it's built to last! The rubberized trigger and soft grip handle just adds to the balanced comfort. This drill also included a cool Clip-Lok system eliminating the need for a holster or one of those awkward lug hooks.

The power is more than adequate for most jobs. I was able to drill quite a few holes with my hole-saw during door installations. The drill does pack a pretty hefty kick with all the torque generated at 1400rpm. Luckily, there is a two speed feature to tame this beast! For me, a good 12 volt drill is perfect for most woodworking projects, the weight and extra bulk of anything greater is just not worth the fatique. Maybe I just don't have the ego for a hefty 18 or 24 volter! To me, the whole point of using cordless tools is to get away from the excess weight!

The only complaint I have on this drill is the trigger. Although, I love the rubberized feel, my finger got pinched quite a few times when I pulled the trigger. The fleshy part of my trigger finger got caught between the tacky rubber switch and the housing...Ouch! Then again, it may just be me and not the tool. All in all, this is another excellent product from Milwaukee! And a big mahalo to Larry at the Amazon/Tool-Crib for assisting with my purchase. No where on the islands was this beauty available!

I have been using two of these drills for a few years now and they are awesome . I don't know what these people are looking for out of a 12 volt cordless drill but they must be smoking something if they're not happy with this . This tool takes a beating and comes back for more . Great power for a 12 volter . Very comfortable for all day use .

Doesn't get any better than this
I took a stab at panasonic cordless tools 3 years ago based soley on the nimh battery capassity.What i ended up with was a superior drill that lasts 6+ hours.I am a contractor and i have used this drill every day for the past three years ive owned it.Ive had to send my drill out for a tune up recently,(it diddnt break whatsoever)its nice having a drill that can be used on a daily basis for three years without a single issue. The battery charger it comes with is a fast 45 min charger, so your never without a uncharged battery(if you play your cards right). Now the downside, this drill is heavy but thats what you give up with an 18v drill that has to be understood i wouldnt buy this drill for its weight but if you want the best ,a heavy tool is what you end up with. If you want something lite get an inpact wrench.
In conclusion this drill i believe is the best out there for lite masonairy apps like tapcons,the torque is way overboard (it can tackle things most other drills cant like drilling through steel)so you dont have to think twice about corded tools across the jobsite, or out in the box truck.Even though this tool is heavy i still gave it five stars because to me its worth its weight in gold.
